Photographs for your hotel, guesthouse or rural stay, in exchange for a stay
We photograph small lodging businesses in exchange for three or four nights rather than a fee. You get half a day on location, thirty to fifty edited photographs covering the exterior, the arrival, each room type, breakfast and the view, and three to five vertical videos, delivered within two weeks and licensed for your website, your booking listings and your social accounts.
What a booking photo set actually needs
Guests decide from a listing in seconds, and the frames they decide from are always the same ones. This is the list we work through.
- The exterior, in the light your guests actually arrive in, not at noon.
- The approach and the doorway. Arrival is the moment a guest is deciding whether they chose well.
- Every room type you sell separately. A listing that shows one room and sells four is a complaint waiting to happen.
- Breakfast, or whatever you serve, on a real table rather than styled beyond recognition.
- The view, and the walk to it. Distance is the thing photographs lie about most.
- One or two frames with a person in them. An empty room reads as an empty room.

No invoice passes in either direction. If a trade is worth less to you than the photographs are worth to us, say so and we will adjust it or leave it. Note that a trade is still income for both sides in the eyes of a tax authority, and each of us handles our own.
When to shoot
Off season, if you have a choice. Your rooms are free, so the trade costs you least, and we are not working around a full house. The month before your season opens is the best of all: the photographs are new when the bookings start. If your place is at its best in one particular season, say so and we will plan the trip for then instead.
What owners ask
Do we need to block the rooms you photograph?
Only for the hour or two we are in each one. We work around your service and we photograph occupied rooms after checkout, which is why an off season shoot is easier for everyone.
Can we use the photographs on Booking and Airbnb?
Yes. The licence covers your own website, every booking platform you list on, your social accounts, print and paid advertising, permanently. That is the whole point of the trade.
What if our place is small, just a few rooms?
That is most of the places we photograph. A four room guesthouse is a half day and three nights, and small places tend to get better photographs because there is more character per square metre.
